Having learned to dive late in life I made up for it in my first year by clocking up 120+ open water dives in places from the UK to Australia. Cabo San Lucas had a ton of marine life including sea lions. I really enjoyed my dives there.

Cozumel was a bit disappointing. Not very colorful but very good visibility. Dos Ojos was amazing. Make sure you surface in the Batcave, the cave where the movie The Cave was filmed. Aqua world is the best divie operator in Cancun. They also own the Ultraman ferry and some resorts.
