How To Mount A GoPro To A Diving Mask

In this video I explain how I attached a GoPro to a plain SCUBA diving mask. I also explain the problems with having a camera fastened in such a manner and recommend an alternative way to use a GoPro while you are snorkeling or diving in the river looking for treasure.

Hi Aquahigger thanks for sharing your experience. I have had no experience with action cameras before and I had planned to wear one on my head. I will now instead aim for a hand one. Have you tried a chest mount? I was also considering this.

you could always recommend that they use the suction cup mount on the glass of their mask…LOL … Great video I was thinking about doing the same addition to my mask and I have the same kit just under a different name. I think my favourite piece is the suction cup mount. I have the wrist mount but there are 2 differences. it looks like the strap is neoprene on mine and on the top plate it actually swivels from side to side. Thanks for posting.

Will that glue stand the test of time if you dive a lot? Especially in salt water

  6. Bogy 1 Kinoby says

That mask looks like it has a lot of internal volume. Jesus.

  7. MR-FLIP says

Will that glue hold up to hot temp weather I dive here in AZ and am worried my gopro will come off while diving

Always good to hear new ways of doing things. I personally don't like to carry too much around my hands – mainly for emergency reasons that gladly never happened but must be always anticipated. Also, I stuff things in pockets and any hand mount can cause a problem. When emergency happens, better to have hands free of clatter. Obviously there is never best solution and no matter from what point of your body something sticks out it may cause emergency itself. As for cameras, I use something like this: Phantom Aquatics Quick Release Coil Lanyard with Clip and SS Split Ring attached to BC. If needed, it can be extended to a good length and I can operate it with both hands. If not in use, it can be tagged close to the body.

I use a similar wrist mount for my snorkeling video that I made a few weeks ago. If you want to see it go to my channel and look for the video "I'm Back".. I can post a picture on Chiggs Army FB Channel too.

Bought the package for my sony action camera only to find out that they send you the gopro attachments with 1 adapter for your sony. Not much use with one adapter when you have all these different options. Or do they think there customers will change over the fittings every time they need to use a certain attachment. And if you're like myself and use more than 1 camera then dont bother with this package unless its just for the gopro.

I like these videos thrown in. From watching your videos about the gear you use helped me decide what to get so I wouldn't have to go through the trial and error process.

  39. WunRom says

Aquachigg you might like a chest mount. Wraps around your chest.

  40. macgyver6699 says

  41. Astrohare says

    I don't dive, I don't own a GoPro, and I don't have a diving mask. But I do like how-tos

  42. AdamBrownAdventures says

If you guys buy a gopro kit for the Wrist mount make sure you guys get the wrist mount Chigg has in this video. I got a similar one in a cheap kit just like his but it was adjustable and seemed sturdy but it ended up breaking and I lost one of my gopros in the river. BEWARE!!

  43. Doug Porter says

Really liked the your earlier posts (years ago) providing information on how to find treasures and use metal detectors.
Not sure giving instructions on how to mount a gopro is much different than how to wipe your butt.
Please quit caving into y-tube subs and get back to the basics of why you started this channel. Go for quality over quantity, please!
