The PADI Weight Belt Removal and Replacement on the Surface demonstrated step by step during the PADI Divemaster and Diving Instructor IDC course on Koh Tao in Thailand with Sairee Cottage Diving –

The PADI Weight Belt Removal and Replacement on the Surface is a great skill to learn if you are for example diving from small boats. You can then put on your fins, mask and snorkel on the boat, enter the water and put your weight belt or integrated BCD weights on in the water before the dive. After the dive you can remove the weight belt or integrated BCD weights on the surface before you get back on the boat.

In the PADI Divemaster Skill Circuit and the PADI IDC Skill Circuit you learn to demonstrate the PADI Weight Belt Removal and Replacement skill on the Surface to your students and candidates.

How to demonstrate the PADI Weight Belt Removal and Replacement on the Surface:

1. Signal or speak to the students what skill you will be demonstrating
2. Keep your snorkel in your mouth
3. Inflate your buoyancy control device (BCD) fully
4. Try to lay on your back
5. Show how to open the weight belt buckle
6. Take off the weight belt
7. Hold the weight belt on your chest and show not to drop the weight belt or hold it to far from your body
8. Check if the weight belt is not twisted
9. Put the weight belt back on and make sure it has a right hand release
10. Double check if nothing is entangled
11. Signal or ask if they understood the skill demonstration
